This course is an overview of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles, for further training we recommend taking a basic accounting course at your local college.
Payroll
Learn how to provide payroll services to your client and provide these additional services to your firm year-long. You will learn the roadmap of the payroll process that you can offer to your clients. The process includes of hiring new employees, the different types of wages and garnishments. Learn how to break down a W-2 or Pay stub. Learn the employer responsibilities of federal compliance and record keeping. You will learn FICA, FUTA, and Federal Withholding, Social Security, Medicare, (Self Employment Tax) as well as the Federal Unemployment tax. You will learn the regulations, due dates, and deposits in Payroll Tax.
This module will go over the necessary knowledge of the Federal requirements in the payroll process as well as examples of State requirements in the payroll process. Check with your state jurisdictions for necessary regulations and requirements in your state.
Sales Tax
In this module, you will be able to understand Sales and Use Tax, Sales Tax compliance, and the special rules in collecting Sales Tax. You will also learn the terminology of Sales Tax such as Nexus and Tangible Personal Property. You will learn how bookkeepers calculate and report Sales Tax.
This presentation will go over the key knowledge of the State of California requirements in the sales tax process. Check with your state jurisdictions for necessary regulations and requirements in your state.
Depreciation & Amortization
In this module, you will learn what depreciation and amortization is and the process of allocating the cost of fixed assets over their estimated useful lives. You will also learn that the depreciable cost is the original cost less its estimated residual (salvage) value, and the different depreciation methods and conventions.
